The New Moon & Solar Eclipse Dominates the January Astrology
by Animation Maniac
The New Moon & Solar Eclipse Dominates the January Astrology
Yes it is that time of the year again...another year rushed by. The old year comes to a closing if we are ready for the new year to enter our lives or not. We might have done what we set out to do this last year or not. We might feel a sense of accomplishment and contentment with what is. We might have had bigger plans for our lives then what has happened and feel vaguely disappointed or even angry.
The end of the year with the high strung emotions of the holidays, the inner high tides of memories connected with our family history all these create a highly charged time and you might be glad it is over now.
I always have this particular feeling the last week of the year. It almost feels as if life is holding its breath for a moment before it releases the old stagnant energy and takes in a new deeply promising breath. I feel this moment of stillness and mystery deeply. I want to slow down and not do. I want to take the time to look inward and access my own inner unknown dimensions and secrets. I feel on the brink of something new and exciting and there is only this stillness in the womb of creation, the seed of the new ready to be seeded, to be able to sprout into something beautiful and new.About Setting Your Intentions
Around New Year we could feel encouraged to take a fresh view and perspective onto our lives, courageously confront our short comings and dissatisfaction with an eye towards our deep inner visions and dreams. It seems like the specific quality between the years is inviting us to take heart and step into another round of growing into our best, the highest potential available to express. There is a price we pay if we don't have a vision or a goal to pursuit- we find ourselves wandering aimlessly through life.
Of course, if you set your intentions and become clear of where you want to go you have a much better chance to reach that destination. But not only that! You will have a better time journeying the path of your choice because passion and determination is fueling you, gifting you with the excitement of creation. If you have lost your dreams you will feel empty, depressed, listless and drifting rudderless in choppy waters. The Moon Is Your Soul
Where can we reconnect with our dreams and find that what is meaningful and nourishing to our soul? Astrologically the Moon represents your heart and your soul. You need to be true to your soul to feel fully happy. I suggest you have a look at your chart and see in which sign and house your Moon is and how it is aspected. That will give you a starting point if you have lost your way and don't know what it is you really deeply

Complete Solar Eclipse
by the_exploratorium
Complete Solar Eclipse
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Sun and the Earth so that the Sun is fully or partially covered. This can only happen during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth. At least two and up to five solar eclipses can occur each year on Earth, with between zero and two of them being total eclipses.[1][2] Total solar eclipses are nevertheless rare at any location because during each eclipse totality exists only along a narrow corridor in the relatively tiny area of the Moon's umbra.
A total solar eclipse is a spectacular natural phenomenon and many people travel to remote locations to observe one. The solar eclipse of August 11, 1999 in Europe helped to increase public awareness of the phenomenon, as illustrated by the number of journeys made specifically to witness the total solar eclipse of October 3, 2005 and the total solar eclipse of March 29, 2006. The recent solar eclipse of January 26, 2009, was an annular eclipse (see below), while the solar eclipse of July 22, 2009 was a total solar eclipse.
The latest annular event is the Solar eclipse of January 15, 2010 and the next total event is the solar eclipse of July 11, 2010.
In ancient times, and in some cultures today, solar eclipses have been attributed to supernatural causes. Total solar eclipses can be frightening for people who are unaware of their astronomical explanation, as the Sun seems to disappear in the middle of the day and the sky darkens in a matter of minutes.
Harmful Effects of Solar Eclipse:
•It can make you blind because your eyes are fragile when the solar eclipse comes around. If you look at the solar eclipse, you have about 90% of becoming blind the next 24 hrs can even burn your irises (not fire burn) and make you blind immediately.
•Although not proven scientifically, some religions believe that pregnant women should stay indoors during Solar Eclipse to prevent the baby from developing birth defects.
The Science of Solar Eclipse
Do not attempt to observe the partial or annular phases of any eclipse with the naked eye. Failure to use appropriate filtration may result in permanent eye damage or blindness!
The safest and most inexpensive method to observe the phenomena is by indirect projection, in which a pinhole or small opening is used to cast the image of the Sun on a screen placed a half-meter or more beyond the opening.
The Sun can be viewed directly only when using filters specifically designed for this purpose. Such filters usually have a thin layer of aluminum, chromium or silver deposited on their surfaces that attenuates ultraviolet, visible, and infrared energy.
The use of color films, non-silver black and white film, medical X-ray films should never be used for viewing the eclipse due to potential hazard from infra red rays. The fact that the Sun appears dark in

Eclipse Chaser 2010 - What to Know
Eclipse Chaser 2010 - What to Know
For 2010, there are four eclipses; two lunar eclipses and two solar eclipses. If you are an eclipse chaser, this year will be the chance to experience all types of eclipses. The first one, an annular solar eclipse, occurred on January 15, 2010. Were you able to see it? Its track was seen in Central Africa, the Indian Ocean and Eastern Asia.If you were not able to catch the first eclipse of the year, there's three more. The next one will be a partial lunar eclipse on June 26, 2010, visible in most parts of America, Pacific and Eastern Asia. Next, a total solar eclipse will occur on July 11, 2010, with the shadow passing on Cooks Island, Easter Island, Southern Chile and Argentina. And as the year ends, there's a total lunar eclipse on December 21, 2010, with full visibility on North America and Western South America. You can check NASA's Eclipse page for the exact time and weather predictions for the said dates. With this jam-packed astronomical schedule, eclipse chasers are surely busy. They are the people who purposely visit the places where eclipses are the most visible. If you plan to chase eclipses, or plan to watch one, it is important that you pack and prepare in advance. It's also a great way to spend a vacation. Most travel agencies offer great packages on hotels and resorts where eclipses are fully visible. But you must book at least a year in advance because these packages are surely in demand.Whether you're watching an eclipse as a professional astronomer or photographer, or just a spectator in your own backyard, you must adhere to proper viewing practices. These rules are not mandated by any political law, but you have to follow them for your own safety. For lunar eclipses, there's not much hazard and fuss. You can get away with looking at one without any serious damage to your eyes. For solar eclipses, annular or total, you must never look at the sun directly. Do not look at it straight with your naked eye, do not look at it straight using binoculars or a telescope. Always use appropriate solar or Mylar filters for your cameras, binoculars and telescopes. These will protect you from blindness and other potential eye problems. This a very serious warning for people who think that it's not a big deal. The more protection you have, the better off you'll be and the more enjoyable the experience will be.

The Full Moon is the Last Partial Lunar Eclipse of the Year 2009, Opposing Four Planets in Capricorn
by G.R.R.
The Full Moon is the Last Partial Lunar Eclipse of the Year 2009, Opposing Four Planets in Capricorn
We are heading into the finish line of 2009. With Mercury in retrograde we are supported to review and tie up loose ends of unfinished business. This last week of the year is an excellent time to look backwards into your year, take inventory of what happened and evolved for you throughout the current year. You are a different person now then you were a year ago or two years ago and you are planning now who you want to be down the road. These are the highlights of this week:
o Partial Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon in Cancer
o Moon Squares Saturn and Opposes the Sun, Venus and Pluto
o Four planets and the North Node are in CapricornTime for Introspection
With four planets in Capricorn, the cosmic spotlight is turned on the tenth sign of the zodiac where it is all about clarity, focus, organization and commitment. With Capricorn we learn the lessons of maturity and responsibility. We can now successfully sit down and draw up the vision and plans for the coming year. We learn to be the stewards of our own fate and choose our destiny.Mercury is turning direct again on January 15, 2010 and with that we will be able to truly move forward into the next year with first steps to implement our dreams. Use the next 3 weeks before this turn around for introspection and planning so you are ready to move ahead with the universal support in the middle of January. This is the time to plan your year and brainstorm about all the different areas in your life: your professional life, you in your relationships and community, your spiritual life, your health and your long term goals of wealth and abundance. I suggest you sit down with your journal and just work with the different topics and let ideas and thoughts flow onto the paper. You also could make it a real fun project and get together with a friend and create a vision board for the coming year. That is what I am going to do after writing out my ideas. I will meet with 2 girl friends of mine; we take a Sunday afternoon in January to work with colors, words and collage and put a visual feast together, my vision board for the wall over my desk to keep me aligned and inspired throughout the year. The Four Planets in Capricorn are Sun, Mercury, Venus and Pluto as well as the North NodeThe Sun is representing the center of your own individual consciousness and your, self identity. First it is about reflection and clarity of purpose and then we can move into action.Ask yourself: Who are you?"I am a mother, wife, friend, artist, lawyer, doctor..."What are your specific qualities and virtues?"I am very reliable, I walk my talk, I am compassionate, I am creative, I am curious, I am social, I have a sense for beauty, I love

Scores of amateur stargazers and scientists will travel long distances for the eclipse, which will last for about five minutes. The eclipse will first appear in the Gulf of Khambhat just north of Mumbai. It will move east across India, Nepal, Burma, Bangladesh, Bhutan and China before hitting the Pacific. The eclipse will cross some southern Japanese islands and will last be visible from land at Nikumaroro Island in the South Pacific nation of Kiribati. Elsewhere, a partial eclipse will be visible across much of Asia. The previous total eclipse, in August 2008, lasted two minutes and 27 seconds. This one will last six minutes and 39 seconds at its maximum point. Alphonse Sterling, a Nasa astrophysicist who will be following the eclipse from China, scientists are hoping data from the eclipse will help explain solar flares and other structures of the sun and why they erupt. Astrology Forecast for June 2011 - General Tendencies for All Sun Signs
We have 2 eclipses this month bringing changes, and we may see some good luck and creative energy during the first half of June. But, as this month progresses, we could encounter problems and unexpected emergencies. We will actually have 3 eclipses this summer with the final one on July 1st. June could be a month of transition and spiritual hurtles. Try to be prepared for anything, and don't press your luck. The month begins with a new moon solar eclipse in Gemini singing in harmony with Saturn on June 1st. This will be an excellent time for changes in business, or some may just be ready to make some practical changes at home. The eclipse will be the major influence for change, but we also have 2 outer planets influencing changes. Neptune will be turning retrograde on June 3rd, and Jupiter will enter Taurus on June 4th. Those with dominate Pisces in their charts may find that the changes upon them are difficult and upsetting. Sagittarius and Taurus may discover that there are opportunities for fortune in their grasp. The week of June 6th looks very promising with two outer planets, Jupiter and Neptune, singing in harmony. My Llewellyn Calender calls it, "mystical inspiration." It will be an excellent week for creative projects and romantic encounters, but Venus will be angry with the lineup. Taurus and Libra may need to watch out for delusions or confusion. Because these two planets are sitting on the cusps, there could be some heroic moments. Keep the cape handy, because someone may need to be rescued.Sunday, June 12th could be a day of inspiration with Saturn turning direct, Mercury joining the Sun, and Venus singing with Uranus. Things could turn out better than we planned on that day, but with an approaching lunar eclipse on June 15th, there could also be some unexpected issues to deal with. This eclipse will be a total lunar eclipse and will not be viewable from the US. Nonetheless, it will still affect us. There could be changes in travel, or some could have unexpected problems with their cars. This eclipse could also affect siblings, neighbors, and even higher education and institutions. There could be a few more upsets on Fathers' Day and on through the first few days of the week of June 19th. Mercury and Pluto will be at a standoff on Sunday, which could cause some of us to put our feet in our mouths. Think before you speak, because there is a potential for quarrels. Mars will be in a battle with Neptune through June 22nd, and this may really drain our energy. Laziness could become pandemic. Some may reach for their addictions to cope. The Sun will move in to appease Mars and Neptune on May 22nd, so there could be some positive results from our efforts. Things will improve as we approach the weekend, and good-luck could be shining upon us once

Egypt, Mexico, Peru: What Subject Do They Share?
Egypt, Mexico, Peru: What Subject Do They Share?
No matter how many times you here about Egypt, Mexico or Peru you know that there will be something that you will find interesting. These countries are not the only ones but they stand out as far as they have one thing in common. All of them were advanced in Astronomy.EgyptIn Egypt there are hundreds of sites that were astronomically aligned. Most of them with great precision. To name one or two you have to look at Karnak, Luxor where the great axis that runs through the Temple of Amun aligns with the midsummer sunrise. Most of what we see there dates back to the New Kingdom around the year 1567 -1086 BC.Another place is Giza where we find the remarkable pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. The Great Pyramid is said to have ventilation shafts that points to certain stars and the three pyramids are believed to symbolize the belt of Orion, the hunter, one of the most prominent constellation in the sky.PeruThis South American country is the proud owner of Machu Pichu, an ancient mountain-top city. Here you do not only stand amazed at the stones that had to be brought there but there is enough evidence to support the fact that this city was built so that it incorporated astronomy into its design. It is a mystery why the builders needed such precise measurements and yet it is their ability to have done that one should rather focus on.MexicoIn the 2000 year old Mexican city of Yeotihuacan a street grid has been discovered that is skew 15.5 east-of-north. This according to some research might be based on when the Pleiades or better known as the Seven Sisters first appears at dawn each year.A possible ExplanationAgricultural purposes. While this is not always the case, there are instances where a definite connection between the alignment of sites with certain constellation have something to do with seasonal planting and sowing of crops.Religious and Cosmological purposesThe ancients lived in a magical world where rituals took precedence over physical activity. From records, we know that the significance of rituals was so great that these civilizations would never have taken a chance. They simply had to know when the solar eclipse would be to be prepared. The same with planting and sowing. The beacon of time they used was the sun, stars, planets all which are studied by Astronomy.

Although Tintin and Haddock intercept the ship carrying Calculus, the Pachacamac, near Callao, they are unable to rescue him, and they set off on the trail of the Quechua-speaking natives who have taken him. It leads them to the mountain town of Jauga, where a train is sabotaged in an attempt to kill them. They find both the authorities and the locals extremely unwilling to help them track Calculus' kidnappers because of the wrath of the Inca.Tintin then encounters a young Indian boy named Zorrino, whom he protects from two bullying men of white descent. Following that, a mysterious Indian gives him a medallion, telling him it will save him from danger. Soon after, Zorrino offers to take them to the Temple of the Sun, where he claims their friend is being held. The Temple lies deep in the Andes, and the journey there is long and eventful - it involves hindrance from natives and Captain Haddock being terrorised by the local wildlife. Finally they come upon the Temple of the Sun - and stumble right into a group of Inca who have survived until modern-day times. Zorrino is saved from harm when Tintin gives him the medallion (the Indian who had given it to him reveals himself as one of the Incan high priests, and explains that he gave it to Tintin because he was moved by his effort to protect Zorrino from abuse), but Tintin and Haddock are sentenced to death for their sacrilegious intrusion and end up on the same pyre as Calculus. Tintin has, however, chosen the hour of their death to coincide with a solar eclipse, and the terrified Inca believe he can command their God, the Sun. Afterwards, the leader of the Incas tells them the "magic liquid" mentioned in the preceding volume was a coca-derivative used to hypnotize the explorers who had excavated Rascar Capac's tomb as punishment for their sacrilege. Tintin convinces him to break the curse, and after swearing on their own accord to keep the colony's existence secret, they return to Europe with a gift of Incan gold and jewels, while Zorrino decides to stay with the Incas. Publication historyPrisoners of the Sun was the first Tintin adventure to be published in the newly-created Tintin Magazine in 1946. The pages were published in a landscape design crossing two central pages rather than the standard portrait way.The original version begins with Tintin on his way to Marlinspike following his visit to the hospital where he witnessed the mass panic attack

Eclipse Miracles and Plenty of Them

Eclipse Miracles and Plenty of Them
Will an eclipse make you money? Many of my clients have asked me this question. Eclipses magnetize opportunities to you IF you know how to utilize their energy. Watching my Videos at TheWholeCosmos.com, for your Sun and Rising Sign will clue you in to your personal beacon for the month. (Link Below).Eclipses are astronomical events that occur approximately every six months and affect you in many ways because your body is mostly comprised of water. When there is a Solar or Lunar eclipse you feel the gravitational pull.As an energy worker and astrologer I'm the first to declare that the planets do NOT make you do anything. We live in a co-operation with our Cosmos. When the planets make a move, you feel it. When you make a move, they show it. Mirror, mirror on the cosmic wall.So...when a body of energy has an event, so do you. But because you're unique, no one person has the same experience. And let's be clear-the Sun and the Moon are not planets, but they are bodies of energy that affect us. Without the Sun, we'd freeze. Without the Moon, we'd have tremendous tsunamis as we tumbled out of orbit. But how do the eclipses actually affect you? The energy of the Lunar Eclipse (in the air sign of Aquarius at 13 degrees) on August 5, 2009 is in play until September 10th or so.Astrologically speaking, the closer the degree of the eclipse is (within 8 degrees) to your sun, moon, and/or rising sign in your natal chart...OR the closer the degree of the eclipse to ANY of the planets in your astrological chart, the more the eclipse affects and effects your world. The Lunar Eclipse is thought to be a real drag, a mournful experience and relates to the feminine or a loss. Well I've gotta say that's not been my experience. I see the Lunar Eclipse as a way and means to uncover your unconscious behavior that stops you from moving forward. We're not living in the middle ages so let's not go Hollywood with this, my friend. You may or may not experience a loss during either phase of the Solar or Lunar eclipse but it's not a negative event. You've seen those science fiction movies where the character can tele-transport from one dimension to another or where a character goes from black and white to color, right? Pretend that during an eclipse phase, a movie of your life is being filmed and anything is possible. This is why it's so paramount to work with these magnetic influences AHEAD OF TIME by PLANNING.The Lunar eclipse actually clears away the emotional or psychological debris or residue that no longer needs to be there so that the Solar eclipse can show you the door or vice versa.During any eclipse phase, say to yourself, "Now it's time to become aware. Let me pause and see how I'm responding or reacting. What is LIFE showing me?" How you respond is

The solar eclipse of January 15, 2010 is an annular eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 0.9190. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring Earth's view of the Sun. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun, causing the sun to look like an annulus (ring), blocking most of the Sun's light. An annular eclipse appears as a partial eclipse over a region thousands of kilometres wide. The eclipse starts at the Central African Republic, traverses Cameroon, DR Congo and Uganda, passes through Nairobi, Kenya, enters the Indian Ocean and reaches its greatest eclipse. After that it enters Maldives, where it would be the longest on land with 10.8 minutes of viewing.

Saros Series Eclipses Belong to Saros Cycles
by ozgurmulazimoglu
Saros Series Eclipses Belong to Saros Cycles
Eclipses don't just occur in the sky as one-off events. As Bernadette Brady notes "each eclipse is a member of a family and each family has characteristics. They belong to larger patterns called Saros cycles and those cycles have a beginning and thus a chart for the moment of this beginning, the first eclipse." This whole cycle may well take well over twelve hundred years to unfold, producing eclipses once every 18 years. We should keep in mind that eclipses always come in pairs. After the first one of the pair takes place the next one occurs roughly two weeks after. There are many Saros cycles in operation at any one time, thus we get two to four solar eclipses a year but these individual eclipses that happen in any one year will all come from different families, different Saros Series. For example the cycle which produced the eclipse on Monday 19 March, 2007 started in 1664 and has also produced eclipses on the following dates in the following degrees of the zodiac:February 1971 - 6 Pisces --March 1989 - 17 Pisces --March 2007 - 28 Pisces --This solar eclipse is known as Saros Series 9 New North (Jansky system of naming eclipses) and on 19th March 2007 it occurred at 28 degrees Pisces. So have a look at your chart and see if you have anything at late mutable degrees. If so, it will have had a much more personalized meaning for you as it would have been actively engaging with a theme or issue that you was running in your life. The birth chart of Saros Series 9 New North, born 21 August 1664, has a Venus-Mercury conjunction on the Mars/Pluto midpoint and Mars on the Uranus/Pluto midpoint in its birth chart. Thus this whole series has a strongly physical component to its expression. This can range from struggling with a new sport or your first yoga class to minor accidents, so if it is aspecting a theme in your chart, then maybe you considered how you could use such energy more positively.Another example is the very recent annular Solar Eclipse on February 7th 2008 at 18 degrees Aquarius in Saros Series 10 North and Total Lunar Eclipse on 21st February 2008 at 2 degrees Virgo.Bernadette Brady, in her book on the subject Predictive Astrology, says of this Eclipse series that there is a strong emphasis on communication. Though setbacks may occur with frustrations and restrictions. The energy is generally low and drained, so a good time to take life quietly and not take too much on board at once. The effects of any eclipse usually last for about six months or so. But they can also be felt about a month or so before it occurs.

Solar Eclipse
Solar eclipse is a natural phenomenon, as it takes place when moon comes between sun and earth in a straight line. During the eclipse the moon passes over the surface of the earth. As we are at earth and we will be able to see that moon is going to block the light of sun as it totally covers the sun. This can only take place during a new moon, when sun and moon is in conjunction, as seen from earth. This is how solar eclipse takes place. How does it occur? It's a coincidence that the sun's diameter is 400 times larger than that of the moon, and at the same time, it is 400 times as far away. If we look through a filter at the sun, it looks exactly like the moon on a full moon night. When the moon passes in front of the sun, the shadow falls on the earth and it appears to exactly cover the sun's disc. This is what a solar eclipse is a shadow.Types of solar eclipseThere are three types of eclipses that occur and these are total solar eclipse, partial solar eclipse and annual solar eclipse. Total Solar Eclipses occur when the umbra of the Moon's shadow touches a region on the surface of the Earth. Partial Solar Eclipses occur when the penumbra of the Moon's shadow passes over a region on the Earth's surface. Annular Solar Eclipses occur when a region on the Earth's surface is in line with the umbra, but the distances are such that the tip of the umbra does not reach the Earth's surface. Is this wrong to watch solar eclipse? Many people think that to watch a solar eclipse will prove an invitation for misfortunes. Even, solar eclipses have been blamed for war, famine and the deaths of kings but today conditions and results are totally changed. Generally, 2-4 solar eclipses occur every year and also the location of occurrence of solar eclipse is also not specific. In essence, an eclipse is no more evil than the shadow of a tree, or a tall building. The moon just blocks off the light of the sun for a brief, beautiful moment.

Is the Oort-Opik cloud a spherical shell or a banded ring around the Solar System?
by pennstatelive
Question by Golgi Apparatus: Is the Oort-Opik cloud a spherical shell or a banded ring around the Solar System?
According to the Observer book of Space, it is a 'sperical shell' encapsulating the Solar System, replete with '10 trillion comets.'
I always imagined it to be a band, similar to Saturn's rings, aligned with the horizontal placement of the other planets. 10 trillion comets sounds like an exageration, too.
Thoughts?
Best answer:
Answer by eelfinsThe Oort cloud is a spherical shell of comets, extending almost half the way to the nearest star, according to someone I can't remember. The Kuiper belt is a toroid-shaped band of debris just inside the Oort cloud, and starting just outside the orbit of Neptune. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

(PROPERTY OF USTREAM) The moon will start eating away at the sun's disk around 5 pm ET today — although that's early Monday morning in Asia, where the eclipse begins. A wide swath of the world between south China and the American Midwest will see a partial solar eclipse, due to the moon's position between Earth and sun. And along a roughly 200-mile-wide track, skywatchers can witness a "Ring of Fire," in which just a thin ring of the sun's disk remains uncovered. There'll be no total eclipse this time around, because the moon is too far away in orbit to match the sun's apparent size. Nevertheless, it's a sight not to be missed. You may have heard about it on the news, or maybe you were flipping through the channels and found an end of the world program on the History channel; maybe you heard about Emmerich's new movie 2012, or maybe you read it in a magazine or newspaper. Wherever you heard it, you may be wondering why the date 2012 keeps coming up.The short answer is that December 21, 2012, is the last date of the Mayan Long Count calendar, after which there is no more information given by the Mayans about subsequent events. It is extrapolated that 2012 will bring so much chaos and devastation that life as we know it will either end or never be the same. It may mean nothing - it may simply be that the count starts all over again for a new cycle. But warnings by the Mayans about sun activity that caused global problems in the past, coupled with any number of other apocalyptic warnings from other sources, make 2012 proponents wary of the future. At the very least, 2012 is said to bring change - according to most predictions, the change will be for the worse, although it will eventually get better. It is hard, however, to think optimistically when you realize just how much worse things will get before they get better. Predictions include solar flares, geomagnetic reversals, volcano eruptions (including supervolcanoes), earthquakes, tsunamis, war, famine, possibly mass extinction, planets or near-earth objects striking or coming near enough to Earth to affect magnetic pull. The end could be natural or supernatural, extraterrestrial or terrestrial, but there is no doubting that all of these are profoundly disquieting to even imagine, much less to live through. The year 2012 will bring us into the age of Aquarius, when the stars and sun are in a certain place in the heavens. In more than one predictive source, this astrological alignment signals a time of turmoil. However, it's also a point of incredible cosmic significance. 2012 will mark the time when the sun eclipses the central plane of the galaxy called the dark rift - in other words, it will eclipse the black hole in the center of the galaxy. Mayans associated the central point of the galaxy with the Tree of Life. It is undeniable that 2012 will be a terrible time, but its intensity will inevitably lead to a time of renewal, when man has to reconsider his place in the world and in the universe. Many 2012 believe that indeterminable good will come out of the indeterminable bad - some believe that we have a dormant trait in our DNA that will return, attuning us to the world around us. Others believe that extraterrestrial or divine interference
When will North America be in the line of totality for a solar eclipse?

The lunar eclipse last night was so cool. I found out on NASA's website that a SOLAR eclipse will happen in August of this year, but America won't be in the line of totality, which means for us we won't see a total eclipse of the sun. Asia, China and Russia will be able to see the total eclipse in August. When will the next solar eclipse be where America will be able to see the total eclipse?

Earth in the direction back to the sun will be a shadow, called the shadow. The shadow is divided into two parts, the umbra and penumbra eclipse. Umbra is not subject to too much direct sunlight, but only by part of the penumbra of the direct sun light. The moon around the earth in the process sometimes into the shadow, which produced a lunar eclipse. When the moon entered the umbra at all, total lunar eclipse occurs; but if only part time to enter the umbra, the partial eclipse will occur. Total eclipse of the umbra and the eclipse is partial eclipse. In the total eclipse, the moon is not completely invisible, which is due to sunlight through the Earth's thin atmosphere are refracted into the umbra, projected onto the lunar surface, so to appear before the red on copper. Through the umbra of the moon appears to the path and then the Earth's atmosphere, the luminosity in different total eclipse will be different.Sometimes the moon will not enter into the umbra and penumbra only, which is called a penumbral eclipse. During the penumbral eclipse occurs, the moon will be slightly dimmer, but the limb will not be obscured by the Earth's shadow. In ancient times, people do not know how to eclipse occurs scientific truth, the same as fear eclipses, the eclipse can also live in fear. Some foreign legend, early 16th century, Columbus sailing to South America, Jamaica, and the local indigenous conflict. Columbus and his sailors trapped in a corner, without food and water, the situation is very critical. Understand the point of astronomical knowledge of the Columbus know that this night total lunar eclipse to occur on the indigenous people shouted, "do not take food, the moon will not give you!" At night, Columbus would come true, really there is no moonlight. Upon seeing the indigenous people fear, war and peace quickly and Columbus. Lunar eclipse can be divided into partial eclipse, total eclipse and the penumbral eclipse of three. When the moon eclipses the Ministry only minutes into the Earth's umbra, the partial eclipse occurs; when the diameter of the Earth's umbra is still equivalent to 2.5 times the moon. So when the center of the Earth and the Moon approximately in the same line, the moon will be completely into Earth's umbra, and the resulting total eclipse. And if the moon is always only partially cover the Earth umbra, that is only part of the Earth's umbra, the partial eclipse occurs. On the moon does not appear on the annular eclipse. Because the moon's small size of the Earth than the Earth's umbra area, so it will not appear on a monthly loss of this phenomenon. During a lunar eclipse every year the number is usually 2 times, up to

by Wystan
I'm Really Excited, But Slightly Concerned - What Were the ACTUAL Affects of the Dancing Eclipses?
I also got the sentiment from quite a few people that they would like a little more information about what these cosmic alignments are tuning the consciousness of the solar system to exactly. I will be brief but since this time is very powerful as a STEPPING STONE to the Spirit's influence on our understanding of self... it is quite important we use the time wisely.Basically we had a lunar eclipse real close to the June Solstice which made alignments with Venus and Pluto. Venus connects with the second Chakra, Pluto with endings and spiritual achievement and ALL eclipses connect subconscious with conscious creating a neutral place for information to just come or pass through... like a portal and in strong conditions become multidimensional as well. Normally the affects of an eclipse will last 1 month, starting 2 weeks before and ending two weeks after. As this Solar Eclipse on July 11 is almost exactly 2 weeks after the Lunar eclipse we just had we had quite a shifting pull on mixing our conscious daily lives with our subconscious dream lives and memory banks and also all the right elements to make this portal open to more dimensions. But there was even more to this cosmic event and it's relation to future cosmic events make it that much more important. During the Solar Eclipse on July 11th the solar system will be tuned to the frequency of the heart chakra and omit a super cosmic blast of love energy. The lunar eclipse caused a great pull on the second chakra and Pluto being connected was making its tune to the point of pushing us to let go of negative thought patterns or desires. This is really important though, because although the there will be a cosmic blast of love omitted by the alignment of the solar system... if we have not taken advantage of the pull by the previous and current alignments to purge the second chakra, bad thought patterns and damaging desires we will not have opened up the potential in our energy bodies to receive this cosmic gift.We are currently full on in an alignment to let go of personal attachments... but if they are not recognized and let go the alignment can cause the personal attachments and unhealthy thought/desire patterns to become stimulated and heightened.THIS IS DONE MOST POTENTLY THROUGH RECAPITULATION!Begin recapitulating daily for the next 3 days and write down all the memories that come to you the strongest when you get into your regressive meditation.Really we will begin to see a lot more separation in the world after this time. Many will become joyful beings full of love, light and happiness. Others will fall deeper into the dark and their own personal, separate miseries.I am sure you know which path you would like to unite yourself with. The most important thing we must stay aware of is that WE ARE RESPONSIBLE for

The Longest Eclipse of the Century

The Longest Eclipse of the Century
Occurrence: The eclipse has different perspective with respect to science and mythology. Eclipses are scientifically interesting because they allow a rare glimpse of the cooler corona, glowing gases near the sun's surface and solar flares, which are normally not visible due to the brightness of the sun. To state it in simple way, the full moon gets between the earth and sun. If this is the sole reason, you might expect solar eclipse to happen once a month. But unfortunately it is not so as the moon's orbit is tilted 50 tilted to the earth's orbit. So this geometry lines up twice a year to make the solar eclipse.Dated June 22'09: This particular eclipse which occurred on 22nd of June '09 is considered to be the longest one which lasted for 6 minutes and 39 seconds. India is one among the few places to witness the eclipse in totality. One of the best views of the complete eclipse appeared to be in the town of Varanasi, on the banks of Ganges River, sacred to devout Hindus. Thousands had been there to take the holy dip as ablution of their sins. Students, Scientists had gathered at Tregna, an Indian village as it was predicted to have the clearest view of eclipse. But the thick clouds and overnight rains ad played the spoilsport to breakdown the enthusiasts. Other places in India to witness the eclipse were Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. Chennai witnessed partial eclipse of 62%.The longest stretch of eclipse was witnessed over the Pacific which lasted for 6 minutes and 39 seconds. This wont overreach till 2132 as this has been recorded as the longest one since 1991This is the most beautiful part of an eclipse, the formation of a diamond ring. The second one is the total eclipse witnessed.Eclipse the Myth:1.Hindu Mythology: India subscribed to the idea that a monster ate the sun during an eclipse and the beast even had his own name and identity. - I know some things but I need more information.
Best answer:
Answer by BrantOh, I'll just give you one that popped into my mind. It doesn't have to do with legends or whatever, but a common misconception. It has traditionally been believed that it is dangerous to look at a total solar eclipse with the naked eye. One should use protection when viewing a partial eclipse, but when it is total, you don't need any protection at all.
Kind of like dating and marriage.

Wow! Mercury's retrograde will begin on Thanksgiving Day (USA), November 24th, and the next day, November 25th, we will experience a New Moon solar eclipse. A second eclipse, Full Moon lunar eclipse, will occur again on December 10th, and Mercury will turn direct on December 13th. This will not be a typical Mercury retrograde, for sure! When a planet is in retrograde, it appears to be moving backward against the background of the universe. Planets do not actually reverse directions, they just appear that way, because we are not at the center of the solar system. Mercury will be passing us on our solar racetrack, so his gravitational pull and his influence will be much more prominent in our lives.Eclipses bring changes, good and bad. Most people are resistant to change, and that's why they have such a negative reputation. An eclipse is considered to be 10 times more powerful than a typical full or new moon. Also, eclipses usually come in pairs, one on the New Moon and one on the Full Moon. Occasionally we will get 3 in a row, and they usually occur twice a year.Mercury will be doing his retrograde in the sign of Sagittarius this time, and the eclipses will be bouncing between Sagittarius and Gemini. Sagittarius, I do no envy you! There could be big changes coming for Sagittarius and Gemini in November and December, and Sag, you may find things from your past coming back up to be dealt with.Sagittarius is the wanderer, the optimist, and the ruler of higher education. Mercury's retrograde in Sagittarius may stimulate us to visit places from our past, or we may receive some special visitors that we haven't seen in a very long time. This Mercury retrograde will also be an excellent time to go back and brush up on something we learned in the past, or even make the decision to go back to school and expand the education we already have.Mercury's retrograde often brings up the past, and Mercury's retrograde will be affecting all of us in some way. The houses in our natal charts that Mercury will be crossing will determine what areas of our lives Mercury will affect. An example would be, Mercury's retrograde traveling through your 8th house could bring money from past (and possibly forgotten) loans. Or, Mercury's retrograde in your 5th house of romance could bring a past lover back into your life. Mercury's retrograde with travel from 20 degrees 7 minutes through 3 degrees 51 minutes, Sagittarius. We often begin to notice eclipse energy up to a couple of weeks before, and even a week after, the actual event. With the Gemini and Sagittarius influence, the eclipses could affect our relationships. These two signs are dynamic, and
