Can a solar eclipse blind you?
Best answer:
Answer by 80istLegally blind, yes, but probably not completely blind. (Legal blindness is defined as being able to make out the big E and not much more on a vision chart with the aid of glasses or contact lenses.) When you watch a solar eclipse, your pupils dilate because of the low light level. When the eclipse ends, the sliver of sun that becomes visible is intense enough to burn your dilated pupils.

Can a solar eclipse happen at night?
Question by Elfie: Can a solar eclipse happen at night?
I know that a solar eclipse is when the moon passes in front of the sun, so does that mean a solar eclipse cannot happen at night? Can a lunar eclipse happen at night?
Best answer:
Answer by campbelp2002Yes, because half of Earth is in night all the time. But which half changes all the time. So during every eclipse it is night somewhere on Earth and daytime somewhere else on Earth. The same with a lunar eclipse.

Dedicated to Mars Society of which I am a member If viewed from the surface of Mars near its equator, full Phobos looks about one third as big as the Earth's full moon from Earth. It has an angular diameter of between 8' (rising) and 12' (overhead). It would look smaller when the observer is further away from the Martian equator, and is completely invisible (always beyond the horizon) from Mars' polar ice caps. Deimos looks more like a bright star or planet for an observer on Mars, only slightly bigger than Venus looks from Earth; it has an angular diameter of about 2'. The Sun's angular diameter as seen from Mars, by contrast, is about 21'. Thus there are no total solar eclipses on Mars, as the moons are far too small to completely cover the Sun. On the other hand, total lunar eclipses of Phobos are very common, happening almost every night. See also Transit of Phobos from Mars and Transit of Deimos from Mars for eclipse-like events. The motions of Phobos and Deimos would appear very different from that of our own Moon. Speedy Phobos rises in the west, sets in the east, and rises again in just eleven hours, while Deimos, being only just outside synchronous orbit, rises as expected in the east but very slowly. Despite its 30 hour orbit, it takes 2.7 days to set in the west as it slowly falls behind the rotation of Mars, and has long again to rise. Due to the small size of Phobos (22.2 Km) and its rapid orbital motion, an observer on the surface of Mars would never ...
Are any of these "green energy" companies legit or are they all setup to launder federal money back to donors?
Question by Smart Guy: Are any of these "green energy" companies legit or are they all setup to launder federal money back to donors?
Solyndra, Abound Solar, Energy Conversion Devices, BrightSource, LSP Energy, Evergreen Solar, Ener1, SunPower, Beacon Power, ECOtality, A123, Uni-Solar, Azure Dynamics, and Solar Trust of America
All of them received money per Obama Admin policy choices in 2009 and all would file for bankruptcy within 20 months from receipt of that money.
Do you think any of them are legit?

I've had the Blueline Innovation Power Cost Monitor and Wifi Monitor installed for a couple months now. It has made me very aware of my power consumption and has shown me when and where the most usage occurs. It has also prompted me to invest in solar. I recently purchased a 3.9Kw system from Sun Solar. This shows the difference from what I pay with and without solar. Before solar I average 1152kwh a month. We are on the PGE average monthly bill. We were paying 6 a month to PGE. This gets re-evaluated every 4 months. The previous 4 months it was 4. The 4 month period before that it was 1. It has been steadily climbing and I am sick of paying PGE. My plans are to evaluate this system and pay it off over 2 years. Then I will reevaluate my usage and by then the solar panel capacity will increase and price will decrease. I will then more than double my system size and totally eliminate my PGE bill. (hopefully;-) We dont yet have a PGE netmetering capable smart meter but when we test the system we are producing more during the 7am to 5:30pm hours than we are using. I've logged into PGE website and our usage shows 0. Once they can measure what we are over producing we will have more data. Equipment: Sunpower - Sun Solar Installer k 12 x 327Watt E20 Sunpower Solar Panels = 3.924Kw System 1 x SPR-4000m Sunpower Central Inverter 1 x Sunpower Monitoring Communication Device PGE - 6 a month average bill.
