I really have never seen a solar eclipse. I really don't have anything to view it with. Can I use my camera to record it? Will my camera get damaged? What can I do?

The next total eclipse visible in the continental U.S. is on 21 August 2017.
There are some partial eclipses along the way, but they're no fun. :-)
