While watching a recent History channel documentary (part-1, part-2) regarding the Mayan calendar and its end date of December 21st 2012, I could not help but draw parallels with certain prophetic pronouncements contained within the Qur’an of things yet to come.
Mayan Calendar
The Mayan’s of South America were perhaps one of the most advanced civilizations when it came to astronomy and the mapping of the celestial movement of the stars and our planet. In-fact, the Mayan calendar is so accurate that it has been able to predict lunar and solar eclipses thousands of years in advance based on a complex interlocking system involving lunar-solar-and star movements.
Interestingly enough, the Mayan calendar comes to an end on December 21st 2012 (the day of winter solstice). Now, while some people are speculating that this may mark the end of the world, others are speculating more reasonably that it will mark the end of the current sun-earth-galaxy synchronization and that a new synchronization will begin.
I find this second interpretation to be more logical, especially when we consider that God has told us that our sun is not stationary, but is constantly moving towards a determined point and is by default taking us with it:

Four partial solar and two total lunar eclipses take place in 2011. This 4:2 combination of solar and lunar eclipses in a single year is rather rare with only six cases during the 21st Century (2011, 2029, 2047, 2065, 2076 and 2094). The first and last eclipses always occur in January and December.

In olden days when there were no calculators or easy methods for calculations. Solar and Lunar eclipses were predicted accurately.
After observations of many generations it was found that similar Solar or Lunar eclipses occur approximately every 18 years and 4 months. Of course the solar eclipse occurs on the Zero Moon day and Lunar eclipse occurs on Full moon day.

Question by : How do you know if you have retina damage?
I watched the solar eclipse on sunday. & I looked at it for a while without any protection. then I put on three pairs of sunglasses. I got my telescope out to get pics & when I was looking through my telescope, it burnt my eye, it happened a few times. from what I read, it says that retina damage is painless. I've been having problems with my eyes. short of going to eye doctor, how can I tell if I have damaged my eyes.
