Question by Agent WD-40: In ancient astrology, what did partial lunar or solar eclipses represent?
I understand that full eclipses were understood in the ancient mind as marking the end of an age and the beginning of a new one. Were partial eclipses viewed any differently and were they viewed as favorable or unfavorable?
Best answer:
Answer by primalclaws1974I don't think they represented a lot, but Mayans could predict them thousands of years in advance.

Q&A: In ancient astrology, what did partial lunar or solar eclipses represent?
Q&A: Did I take a picture of a solar eclipse [[picture link in description]]?
Question by 8): Did I take a picture of a solar eclipse [[picture link in description]]?
This upcoming solar eclipse (in about a half hour or so) reminded me of this picture I took in Hawaii sometime in March 2006.
I remember I couldn't get this dot out of the sun while I was taking a picture. My mom was going through my pictures and she saw the picture and said it was a solar eclipse because she remembered hearing that there was going to be one.
I didn't believe her but I was wondering what everyone else thought. Do you think it was a solar eclipse?

**click on 'all sizes' with the magnifying glass next to it under 'Hawaii' to make it bigger**
and if you want to watch the eclipse tonight, I think there will be a live broadcast. http://www.kepu.net.cn/gb/special/eclipse_2009/index_eng.html i found this link on nasa's website but i don't know if it'll work. the eclipse is in about a half hour. it's 6:00 Pacific time right now.
by the way the date and time on the bottom of the picture was wrong because i never set the date or time on my camera.

Answer by Mark KYes, you are correct, except, a TOTAL solar eclipse will be a thing of the past.
A couple billion years in the future a solar eclipse will look like the sun with a big black dot in the middle.

Caddies on the PGA Tour are like vice presidents the only time you really see or hear about them is during an election year (in golf terms that's when they're hired or fired). It doesn't happen very often, but when one of the top players makes a change on the bag, it can make the sports ticker on TV or a li'l blip on the golf radar. That's just the nature of the job. We caddies understand that, and we're fine with it. Like a passing comet or a solar eclipse, there are those rare occasions when big shakeups in the caddie community seem to shake the ground on which we walk. This was one of those years.I'll start with the ones you know, but I'm going to end with the two that had the biggest effect on their players to those of us that truly understand the inside part of the game.Stevie Williams: He's one of the most wellknown and now controversial caddies in the world. That's because of who he stood next to for the last 13 years, and more recently because of the words he said on two occasions. One statement was made to the media after a round of golf and another was pointed toward his former boss at what was thought to be a faux award ceremony for caddies. In both cases Williams got what no caddie wants: the full attention and glaring spotlight of the media and everything that comes with it.The Tiger/Stevie split was gonna happen, but why it was going to happen has been missed by many in the mainstream media. It does go back to the circus that came with the revelation of Tiger's extramarital affairs. But what most people missed (because they don't understand the relationship between player and caddie) was the trust that was lost between Tiger and Stevie. Most people think Stevie travels with Tiger, stays in the same hotels as Tiger, and that they were together 24/7. That was a myth. They had become extremely close friends, as had their wives, and that is where things began to unravel.By all accounts, Steve did not and is not getting a divorce from his wife, but as more and more dirt came out on Tiger, it was assumed that Steve knew. Do you think this might have caused a little stress at home for the Williams family? It's also important to note that a caddie only gets paid when his player plays. That means when Tiger pulled out or missed the cut at an event over the last year and a half that they were together, Steve only got his weekly pay, which was the same as many other caddies on tour.It has been speculated that Steve was on a
Can I buy JUST the SunPower 300 Watt panels without being required to use the installer I bought them from?
Question by jchaines: Can I buy JUST the SunPower 300 Watt panels without being required to use the installer I bought them from?
I have been looking everywhere (web retailers, ebay, amazon, etc.) trying to buy SunPower panels but the only places I seem to find are the "Premier Dealers", and they force you to have that dealer install the panel and therefore you can't buy just the panel...
Can anyone help me with this? I am only looking for the 300 Watt or greater panels...
Best answer:
Answer by RudydooHey J, you're correct. I spoke with Jane at Sunpower customer service today. They may be telling you that they are, "Premium Dealers," but in Sunpowers case, they only allow their certified dealers to install them. She claims it's because of warranty coverage, personally I don't buy it. I can purchase a $ 30,000 automobile today, take it home and change the oil, rotate the tires and flush the radiator, but if the vehicle acts up or the radio quits, they still cover it under warranty.
On a note closer to home, we have a 1.6 kilowatt solar array on our garage roof made up of 14 Kyocera KC-120 panels. One of them failed recently, and Kyocera replaced it for me free of charge. I installed them myself 9 years ago, that was okay with them, as is the case with most panel manufacturers today.
Sunpower claims to have the most efficient solar panels on the market today. If their claim that their panels are 18% efficient, than they are correct. Most panles today are around 13%, which means 13% of the suns energy is converted to electricity, and the other 87% becomes heat. The additional efficiency only allows you to produce the same power in a smaller space, there is no cost benefit to it, in fact, I would suggest that their higher efficiency and premium dealer arrangement actually makes their product more expensive per unit power produced. So at the end of the day, you can spend the same, or more money for an array that runs your home and takes up 25% less space on your roof. For most people, this is of no concern. To give you an example, we power our home with our 1.6 KW array, and at 13%, it takes up less space than the roof of our single car carport, about 85 square feet. Most homes have roof structures that are 5 - 10 times this space, this is why most people opt for more popular brands of panels that are easier to find and purchase, might be less expensive, and allow them to do the work themselves. There are dozens of panel manufacturers out there, Kyocera, BP Sharp, Evergreen and Sun to mention a few. If you have the space for a slightly large array, then all of these products can work for you.
I would
