Question by : can I take a photo of the solar eclipse without damaging my camera?
I don't have a solar filter. I know that I can't look directly at the sun but if I wait until the actual eclipse, can I at least attempt to photograph it? Or am I going to damage the camera? I wasn't able to get a welders mask or anything, all hardware stores sold out like two weeks ago.

Answer by jeannieWhere are you? If you're in the path of totality, you should not shoot it without a filter for both the camera and a filter for your eyes. You should never look directly at an eclipse. Blindness can result.
I'm in Los Angeles, where it will be partial at sunset. So, I"m wearing my solar glasses, but I'm not filtering the camera. As the fog is coming in, I think the whole thing will be moot anyway.

Normally the affects of an eclipse will last 1 month, starting 2 weeks before and ending two weeks after.As this Solar Eclipse on July 11 is almost exactly 2 weeks after the Lunar eclipse we just had we had quite a shifting pull on mixing our conscious daily lives with our subconscious dream lives and memory banks and also all the right elements to make this portal open to more dimensions.But there was even more to this cosmic event and it's relation to future cosmic events make it that much more important. During the Solar Eclipse on July 11th the solar system will be tuned to the frequency of the heart chakra and omit a super cosmic blast of love energy. and the only place you can view these events in the western hemisphere is on a remote island off Chile. the History channel show says that Venus crossing the sun is rare. How rare is it? how often does it occur? it(venus) occurs 200 days before Dec 21, 2012.

Transits of Venus occur in pairs 8 years apart, with about a century between the pairs. The last pair were in 1874 and 1882. This pair are in 2004 and 2012. The next pair will be in 2117 and 2125. This has been known for centuries.

I read in news about the Asia total solar eclipse yesterday. It said the next big one will be on June 13, 2132 AD.
What percentage of people who are alive today, will be alive june 13, 2132 AD to watch it? Would they be newborns of today?

The next total eclipse will be next year, actually. However, none this century will last as long as today's one, due to the relatively unique positioning of the Earth and Moon relative to the sun.
