Question by : is it true: both Venus traveling across the sun & a solar eclipse will occur in 2012?
and the only place you can view these events in the western hemisphere is on a remote island off Chile. the History channel show says that Venus crossing the sun is rare. How rare is it? how often does it occur? it(venus) occurs 200 days before Dec 21, 2012.
ok, so are transits of Venus viewable everywhere? or just on this remote island off the coast of Chile?

Answer by Viola At NeonYes. None of this has anything to do with 21 December 2012, unless you're some sort of gullibility victim. Or just plain dumb.

Transits of Venus occur in pairs 8 years apart, with about a century between the pairs. The last pair were in 1874 and 1882. This pair are in 2004 and 2012. The next pair will be in 2117 and 2125. This has been known for centuries.
