At sunrise in some parts of China and by sunset in the western North America, a partial solar eclipse is set to slink across the Earth on May 20 and 21. Depending on where people are in the eclipse's path, some may be able to witness an annular eclipse in which the moon blocks out all but a ring of the Sun's light. Others will see the Sun as a crescent, partially obscured by the moon, for a period of around four to five minutes. "The desert areas of Nevada, southern Utah and northern Arizona may be the best (for viewing) if they have the greatest chance of clear skies and the eclipse takes place low in the sky over a dramatic landscape," said Alan MacRobert, editor of Sky and Telescope magazine. According to NASA, a partial eclipse will be seen within a much broader path of the moon's penumbral shadow, including much of Asia, the Pacific and the western two-thirds of North America. In BC, a parital solar eclipse will be visible from 4:58 to 7:21 pm

Atheists, don't you find it strange that the Moon blocks the Sun perfectly in a total solar eclipse?

Question by Wayne: Atheists, don't you find it strange that the Moon blocks the Sun perfectly in a total solar eclipse?
I've just finished watching a science documentary and I was shocked to learn how rare in the universe a total solar eclipse is. On Earth we are extremely lucky that the Moon is just the right distance from the Sun for it to cover it perfectly in a total solar eclipse. As soon as I learned that fact I knew God was the reason. There's no way it was a coincidence.

Atheists, don't you find it strange? Surely the truth is staring you right in the face and you are looking the other way?

Answer by Atheist Santa ClausYes, but it was probably a coincidence. With a universe that has probably millions of trillions of planets, surely a few such planets got lucky and had a single moon that allowed a total eclipse?

How much money can you save using solar pannels for electricity?

Question by : How much money can you save using solar pannels for electricity?
I live in Hawaii and the cost of living is very high. I was wondering if I could save a bundle of money installing solar pannels for electricity instead of paying a monthly bill. I know it costs a lot of money to install solar pannels but in the long run inflation will just raise your bills like crazy. I heard in the mainland the cost of living is way cheaper and I am planning to move up there but will installing a solar pannel save me a lot of money if I live in the mainland?

Best answer:
Answer by TomShort answer is no. The initial cost are still too high for most situations where power supply already exist. Solar is great for locations that currently have no electrical supply because the cost of running power to the site saved offsets the cost of the solar panel somewhat. Unless you can get local tax credits/rebates that I don't know about, you will never be able to recover the cost of initial setup during the lifetime of the solar panels. Check into wind turbine power generation. It is becoming more affordable every day and last longer than solar panels.

Next eclipse in 2010 and what is the time?

Question by priyanka: Next eclipse in 2010 and what is the time?
I'm pregnant and i just want to know when is next eclipse and time and what i have to do during that time?

Best answer:
Answer by AlanJuly 11th 2010, the time depends on what time zone you live in.

What to do? well the eclipse is in the south pacific so you need to get on a ship if you want to see it, there are plenty of cruise ships going to the eclipse but they might all be booked up by now.

I suggest you search the internet, if there are no tickets left try for a cancellation, otherwise you will have to hire a long range jet plane and that's expensive

Good Luck with the eclipse, and the birth. Alan
