How many times greater or smaller is your weight during a solar eclipse?
Best answer:
Answer by ohSnapThat's assuming the moon is directly overhead?
ok, so Fg = Gm1m2/r^2
|Fg|=G*m_earth*m_you/(radius_of_earth)^2 - G*m_moon*m*you/(distance_from_center_of_moon_to_you)^2

Nasa has confirmed a "TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE" on November 13th, 2012. That date happens to be a tuesday which has been call of duty's annual release schedule. This could be just a coincidence or clever marketing skills. Either way it would be extremely awesome to have a solar eclipse happen right before you play one of the worlds best games. A lunar eclipse and a full moon look the same in my diagram that shows the position of the moon relative to the earth and the sun. I know I used to understand this concept but today it baffles me.

Animation I did for a school project showing a solar and lunar eclipse, with an intro of the solar system. The music I used is Oxygene 2 by Jean Michel Jarre.
Is there different variations of a total eclipse?
Question by Chris: Is there different variations of a total eclipse?
In other words, is the position of the moon during a total eclipse exactly on the same spot everytime? I have heard of an annular eclipse in which the moon appears smaller leaving a thick ring around the moon's shadow. I was thinking maybe there was variations in between the two that are visible to, maybe, a high precision instrument since every total eclipse to the naked eye is exactly the same.
Sorry i meant variation in position as in distance.

Answer by Foxyes and no it is in the same spot for viewing on how it would appear and in diffrent parts of the earthand its only once a year that theres a total solar eclipse but never the exact same spot in space

What time will the Solar Eclipse happen today?
Question by Super: What time will the Solar Eclipse happen today?
Okay, so there is going to be an Annular eclipse today, which it is an eclipse of the sun, in which the edge of the sun remains visible as a bright ring around the moon. Anyway, all I am asking is: what time will the eclipse happen?
Best answer:
Answer by Box Of WineWe know what an annular eclipse is, but thanks for the explanation. The eclipse will be going on at sunset. The farther east you are, the less you will see. Everyone on the east coast will miss it entirely.
