Why is there a Solar eclipse over the pacific ocean?


Question by Richard: Why is there a Solar eclipse over the pacific ocean?
Like nobody lives there, why wouldnt they have one over a big city like New York, or Tokyo instead? So many more people would see it! Why the ocean? Was there like a lot of cruise ships over there or something?

No precautions needed, its a lunar eclipse when the earth shadows the moon during the night.
