Astrology, Zodiacs and Horoscopes

Astrology gives an awareness of environment through power of knowing things without conscious reasoning. The study in astrology includes an imaginary belt in the heavens that encompass the paths of most of the planets and that is divided into 12 constellations or signs known as Aries, Cancer, Aquarius, Capricorn, Taurus, Pisces, Sagittarius, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Scorpio, Virgo. At some places their symbols are also used to represent them.Actually astrology commonly includes the study of positions and movements of celestial bodies such as moon, sun, stars and planets (solar system). In the field of astrology, commonly people get attracted towards the horoscope because as we know that horoscope includes the study of personality analysis and clear understanding of nature of a person along with daily routine life issues. This is the reason of people's interest in the horoscope section. The zodiac is divided into 12 zones of the sky. These zodiacs are named by looking at the patterns formed by any of 88 groups of stars. The term zodiac stands for "Circle of Life". Actually this is all calculated by observing the circle covered by the sun in the sky for an entire year and a zodiac sign is categorized by the motion of sun around the zodiac region.Astrological studies also help to predict the upcoming natural disasters this is because the arrangements and various events of celestial bodies are very participating in the earthly events such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, droughts, tornadoes etc.If we see by a common point of view, it seems very illogical that how can an astrologer predict about the earthly events through observing the movements of sun, moon, stars, planets etc. but it must be true because earth is also moving like sun and moon, so, there would be a definite relation between them and their events as, in solar and lunar eclipse our earth is involved same as in earthly events, other heavenly bodies could be involved. We are well known of the word "Horoscope" which is a diagram of the relative positions of planets and signs of the zodiac at a particular time for use by astrologers to foretell events of a person's life. Horoscope is a very common subject of astrology and this word is derived for Greek language Horoscopus or Horoskopos from hora "hour"+skopen "to look at".Horoscope is a forecast for future and to make the analysis of one's personality by studying the celestial bodies by a method called Astrology. In ancient times, the kings and rulers etc. definitely used to take an advice of their particular astrologer before taking any important decision regarding their country as it was the ritual or trend of that time.Astrology is not only the belief of the people living at one specific part of the world but, it is strongly used in almost all countries and their habitats. What effect does a solar eclipse has even if I am not located in the eclipse path?

by NASA Goddard Photo and Video
Question by Inquisitive Mind: What effect does a solar eclipse has even if I am not located in the eclipse path?
Usually eclipse has a path. In parts of the world, you can view partial and total eclipse. But, if I am located in the part of the world where the eclipse is not visible at all. Will I still experience the radiation or any other effect?

Best answer:
Answer by quizzard123Radiation?

An eclipse is caused by the moon passing between the earth and the sun. On the eclipse 'path' as you call it, people are in the umbra (full coverage of the sun) or penumbra (partial coverage).

That's all it is, there is no 'radiation', there is no effect on the rest of the world whatsoever. Other than a very tiny, temporary cooling of the shadowed areas I suppose, but it's so fleeting as to be insignificant.

It all started on May 2, 2000 with the removal of selective availability by the White House. (Selective Availability is the intentional modification of GPS signal to degrade accuracy of readings) At that moment, the GPS receiver became 10 times more accurate.GPS, or Global Positioning System is a navigational system which operates through the use of twenty-four satellites positioned around the globe in low Earth orbit. These sattelites were placed by the U.S. Department of Defense but are free for the world to use. Each satellite above the Earth is solar-powered, with a battery back-up for times during eclipses. They send a signal that is extremely accurate, within 40 billionths of a second. GPS receivers take the signal from the satellites and use triangulation to calculate the exact location of the user, as well as speed, distance traveled, and elevation.Triangulation works by the receiver using the signals of three or more satellites to determine location. It is a trigonometric process that identifies the position of a point using the bearings to it from two fixed points a known distance apart. Before Selective Availability was removed, GPS units received a scrambled signal which affected their accuracy. After May 2, 2000, a new world of opportunity involving GPS opened up. GPS units are popping up more and more these days as their particular usefulness is recognized by the general public. Many cars today offer a GPS navigational system to help guide you to your destination. One day after the removal of selective availability, a computer consultant by the name of David Ulmer decided to test the new accuracy. He hid a container in a forest in Oregon and shared the coordinates with an online community. Within a week, several people found his container, and they started hiding their own. Thus, "Geocaching" was born. The name of the hobby is simple enough - Geo meaning Earth and cache referring to hidden treasure. Taking part in the sport is also simple. The only tools required are the GPS unit and a love for adventure. The seeker acquires coordinates to the hidden container through the hobby's official website. The GPS unit points the way, with an accuracy usually within 25 meters. Once at the location, the seeker must hunt for the hidden cache which may be in a tree stump, in between rocks or even hanging in the air! The containers may also vary in size, from small keyholders or 35 mm film canisters to large buckets or ammo cans. Each container normally contains a log book for the finder to sign and also may hold various items and trinkets available for trading. Generally the finder takes an item and leaves another item in its place. The removal of Selective Availability allows civilian

Q&A: Does anyone know wh you can see the solar eclipse in Michigan?

Question by MISSTHANG!: Does anyone know wh you can see the solar eclipse in Michigan?

Best answer:
Answer by kumorifoxYes, but partial only, in the early morning.

What do you think? Answer below!

The sun sets over Lake Michigan with a solar eclipse underway on May 20, 2012. This celestial marvel is a prelude to the rare 2012 transit of Venus on June 5, 2012 (www.transitofvenus.org). Be prepared with proper solar filtered devices for looking safely at the sun. Video shows partial solar eclipse beginning around 8:15 pm EDT with the sun about six degrees above the western horizon, and continuing to about 9:00 pm EDT, when the seemingly crescent sun sets conjoined to the moon. Green line is distant horizon, near which the sun appears to elongate.

A Floating ParadiseYachts have captured the imagination of people the world over and nothing signals luxury more than the ultimate floating home. The term luxury yacht encompasses any privately owned vessel that is professionally crewed and was coined at the beginning of the 20th century when yachting for pleasure became a reality for many. Classifying yachts into a list of the world's most impressive vessels is not an easy task. Most people use length as the deciding factor in determining the largest and most spectacular vessels, but in technical terms, it is gross tonnage that really determines one yacht's size in relation to another. This measure of weight refers to a yacht's volume and what it can carry or accommodate. The World's Five Longest Motor Yachts But it is length that is more tangible for most people and is a huge determining factor in the status of a yacht. In classifying the world's privately-owned yachts into the top 5 by length, there are actually six that emerge as clear contenders. The world's largest yacht is actually yet to be launched and will be vying for the top spot by the end of 2008. Most of the world's five longest yachts were built in Europe, with only the Platinum/Golden Star being constructed in the United Arab Emirates. Germany is currently the top yacht producing country with the esteemed Lurssen Company being behind three of the world's current longest luxury yachts. This trend of European dominance in the field of yachting is also prominent in yacht charters and brokerage. Yacht brokerage companies sell and charter some of the world's longest and most luxurious yachts, making magnificent vessels of this type more accessible. The Golden StarThe world's biggest and most majestic yacht to date, the Golden Star is also known as the Platinum Star and is truly a sight to behold. Launched in Dubai in April 2006, the 160 metre yacht is owned by the Sheikh of Dubai. The yacht was originally commissioned by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei in 1996, but when his funds ran out two years later, construction was halted indefinitely. The partially-finished skeleton of the yacht sat in a German dry dock until the project was taken over by Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai. The name of the yacht as well as her features have been held secret, even after her launch with rumours of submarines and missile detectors neither confirmed nor denied. Originally named the Golden Star, the Sheikh of Dubai is said to prefer the more sophisticated Platinum Star while latest rumours have simply named the current world's longest yacht the Dubai. SunflowerAt 155 metres, the Sunflower is the world's second largest yacht and currently one of its youngest, as it was only launched in 2007. Its design is

What's some tips on taking a picture of a solar eclipse?

Question by gzus: What's some tips on taking a picture of a solar eclipse?
I'm not a professional photographer, and I only have a crappy old camera to take pictures of it with. So please write things in english, not photographer terminology.

Best answer:
Answer by Ph.Art GalleryTry not to look at the eclipse with your naked eye.
You are best off using a tripod.
Try and a borrow a not so crappy old camera. You need to at least be able to zoom in a bit to see what is going on.
Remember to take lots of images to increase your chances at success.
Find a vantage point that is clear of any obstructions.
Use a digital camera if you can so you can review the images to see if you need to change the exposure.
Good luck!

How to Take Photos of the Solar Eclipse?

How to Take Photos of the Solar Eclipse?

Taking photos of a solar eclipse could be very harmful to your eyes and also the equipment you use. Here are a set of instructions that you should strictly follow to safely take photos of a solar eclipse:1) Setup your equipment early. If you have a tripod, this is the time to bring it out as it will save you from looking directly into the sun and also let you take long exposure shots.2) Get a good solar filter that can be attached in front of your lens. Do not shoot without a filter as it can seriously damage your eyes or the camera sensor.3) If you have a DSLR or a camera with interchangeable lenses, put on the lens with the longest focal length. A focal length of 200mm to 5oomm should give you a really good picture that captures the intricate details of the sun. If you are using a compact camera, set it to the maximum optical zoom level that is available.4) Use an ISO value of 50 or 100, aperture size of 8-16 and focus on infinity. Take a series of photos at every shutter speed ranging from 1/1000 sec to 1 sec.5) If your camera supports bracketing, turn it on. This will tell the camera to automatically take the same shot at 3-5 different exposure levels and you can choose the best of the lot offline. If you don't have bracketing, manually change the exposure level for your shots so that you don't miss out on the magic. The low exposure shots will give you the details, the high exposure shots will give you better outer coronal features and you can also combine them later to create an HDR image.6) Take a few long exposure shots to further capture the coronal features better.7) To take group photos during the eclipse, project the image of the eclipse on a wall or in water using a reflector and shoot against the backdrop.
