Question by Inquisitive Mind: What effect does a solar eclipse has even if I am not located in the eclipse path?
Usually eclipse has a path. In parts of the world, you can view partial and total eclipse. But, if I am located in the part of the world where the eclipse is not visible at all. Will I still experience the radiation or any other effect?

Answer by quizzard123Radiation?

An eclipse is caused by the moon passing between the earth and the sun. On the eclipse 'path' as you call it, people are in the umbra (full coverage of the sun) or penumbra (partial coverage).

That's all it is, there is no 'radiation', there is no effect on the rest of the world whatsoever. Other than a very tiny, temporary cooling of the shadowed areas I suppose, but it's so fleeting as to be insignificant.

What do you think? Answer below!

SOLAR ECLIPSE THIS WEEKEND: On Sunday, May 20th, the Moon will pass in front of the Sun, producing an annular solar eclipse visible across the Pacific side of Earth. The path of annularity, where the sun will appear to be a "ring of fire" stretches from China and Japan to the middle of North America: www.spaceweather.com http
