We had a Lunar Eclipse two weeks ago and we will have a Solar Eclipse on Sunday July 11 this week. The Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn was an invitation to renew our inner world of emotions through clarity of purpose, the willingness to feel our feelings, the need to be responsible and claim our personal power. The Solar Eclipse in Cancer interrupts for a few minutes the energy flowing from the Sun towards the earth and with it we will experience an upgrade to our consciousness. You could imagine it like a restart on your computer which sometimes is needed to integrate new programs or files of information. There is some magic to new beginnings. Like the new light of every morning is promising a new day or the new birth of a baby entering this realm, both are holding a new potential of the un-manifested to be integrated into this physical world. The Sun is symbolizing the highest consciousness in our universe and therefore in our chart. The Sun is sending life giving rays to our earth and in combination with water the Sun is the base of life on this planet as we know it. This Solar Eclipse is situated in Cancer, the home of the Moon, the Archetypal Mother who births, supports and protects life. A Solar Eclipse is always an extra powerful New Moon when the Moon is briefly covering the Suns radiation. Sun and Moon in conjunction is yin and yang melting into one circle.Mother Earth and Father SunWe had many challenging astrological windows of opportunities throughout the last few years heralding a profound change in consciousness on our planet. It becomes clearer to many people that only if this ruling species of humans is stepping to a higher level of consciousness, honoring oneness of all life and starts living from that place we will survive. Mother Earth and Father Sun are coming together to give us another chance to shape up and attune to a higher level of consciousness. It is a grand window of opportunity towards global awakening. I love the book by Arjuna Ardagh called The Translucent Revolution where he shares his researches and interviews with many well known and unknown people and their inner processes partaking in that tidal wave of waking up to our full human potential. His other book Awakening into Oneness is another testimony to the process we are all partaking in and how we can help our brain to awake. I was always amazed that we are only supposed to use around 5% of our brain according to scientific research. It made me curious: What kind of potential is lying dormant in the

When the moon passes through the Earth's shadow, it causes the moon to look very unusual for a short period of time. This event is called a lunar eclipse, and it occurs roughly twice a year. There's one viewable to folks outside of North America on June 15, so sit back and learn more about how lunar eclipses work in this video! This video is also available in stereoscopic 3D, viewable by many kinds of 3D devices, including common red/blue paper glasses that you might have lying around! Wednesday March 29th 2006 will be a very special day in Turkey. Shortly before two o'clock in the afternoon local time an eerie darkness will descend across the land. Birds will begin to roost and streetlights will flicker on as the sun slips behind the moon in the first European total solar eclipse this millennium. Standing in the path of a total solar eclipse is a dramatic and awe-inspiring experience. To watch the light fade from the sky and to see the last fiery wisps of the sun's disk be engulfed by the black moon is a stunning spectacle that stays with you forever. Adding to the thrill is the fact that the path of a total solar eclipse beats a track through Europe very rarely. The last was in 1999 when the path of totality passed through Cornwall (SW England); the next will be in 2026 when totality touches Northern Spain. The eclipse begins across Turkey at around 12:45 in the afternoon, more than an hour before totality is reached. These early stages of the eclipse will go largely unnoticed. It is not until some 25 minutes before totality, when the sun's disk is more than half-covered, that it becomes noticeable that the light is fading. The ensuing half an hour is then nothing short of magical. At t-minus 20 minutes the air is filled with the sounds of birds settling down for the night. A chill starts to circulate in the air and although the sun shines high in the sky, an eerie gloom reminiscent of a dull winter's afternoon establishes itself. The light only fades slowly at first, but with 5 minutes to go the onset of darkness becomes ever more apparent. By this time the birds have gone quiet and little in the way of daytime wildlife stirs. In the last minute the light falls more rapidly as if it were late twilight, and with only seconds to go a huge dark shadow sweeps in at speed engulfing you in almost complete darkness, although the horizon all around you appears lighter. Looking at the sun, wisps of fire can be seen around the dark disk; close-by stars shine out from an ink-black background. Then, all too soon, the sun reappears in a dazzling display and totality is over. For the best views of the total solar eclipse in Turkey, you'll need to locate yourself in the path of totality - a 100-mile wide swathe of darkness that runs northeastwards from Antalya on the Mediterranean coast to Samsun on the Black Sea. Outside this zone the eclipse will still be visible, but it will never reach totality. International travelers should arrange their flights into Istanbul from where internal flights to Ankara and Antalya can be caught. The path

Taurus Full Moon and Sagittarius New Moon With a Solar Eclipse in November

Fear has been in the air and riots in the streets! We all have at least friends and family who have fallen on hard times, lost their houses or their jobs. We feel strongly what is happening because of that deeper inner connection of oneness or you could call it the morphogenetic field. It is easy to get caught up in anxiety and fear.Being a mom means you are the center of the family- the healer, the shepherd. You are setting the emotional tone nourishing the needs of your kids and partner. If you don't feel good - nobody in your family feels good. Self-care is absolute paramount for you these days! By taking care for your own needs first you are taking care for your family. Only a full cup of water can sustain their thirst! The question is how can you balance yourself? How can you find your place in all this? How can you step up with courage into the unknown and the new horizon of consciousness? And how can you be of help for others? Astrology is holding some answers for you because it gives you the conscious awareness for higher or lower choices based on the energetic, archetypal fields involved.Following the Lunar astrology with the magic points of the Full Moon and New Moon you can learn to align yourself consciously with the universal currents and navigate the choppy waters more graciously.Full Moon in Taurus November 10After having five planets in Scorpio as well as the New Moon in Scorpio at the end of October, the intensity is leveling out a bit. With Taurus you are invited to take care for your body, your needs and find out how to balance yourself within the demands of the physical world. Step by step Taurus moves ahead, faces reality and what needs to be done. Most of October, in the Scorpio period, things were stripped away and maybe changes were forced onto you. Now Taurus will help you to integrate and make good practical use of those insights and revelations. Chopping wood and carrying water, enlightened or not, attuning to practical demands of life is crucial.New Moon in Sagittarius Marks a Solar Eclipse and Mercury Turning RetrogradeA new cycle starts with the most gregarious, outgoing sign of the zodiac. Your attention is pointed outwards and towards growth and fortunate manifestations. It is a time to ask yourself: where you have been holding back and underestimated yourself? It is a month to step up to the plate, play your hand fully and take some risks. Communications will have obstacles and you need to keep the bigger picture in mind.

Annular Solar Eclipse 20 May 2012 The first solar eclipse of 2012 occurs at the Moon's descending node in central Taurus. An annular eclipse will be visible from a 240 to 300 kilometre-wide track that traverses eastern Asia, the northern Pacific Ocean and the western United States. A partial eclipse is seen within the much broader path of the Moon's penumbral shadow, that includes much of Asia, the Pacific and the western 2/3 of North America. The annular path begins in southern China at 22:06 UT. Because the Moon passed through apogee one day earlier (May 19 at 16:14 UT), its large distance from Earth produces a wide path of annularity. Traveling eastward, the shadow quickly sweeps along the southern coast of Japan as the central line duration of annularity grows from 4.4 to 5.0 minutes. Tokyo lies 10 kilometres north of the central line. For the over 10 million residents within the metropolitan area, the annular phase will last 5 minutes beginning at 22:32 UT (on May 21 local time). The annular ring is quite thick because the Moon's apparent diameter is only 94% that of the Sun. Traveling with a velocity of 1.1 kilometres/second, the antumbral shadow leaves Japan and heads northeast across the Northern Pacific. The instant of greatest eclipse occurs at 23:52:47 UT when the eclipse magnitude reaches 0.9439. At that instant, the duration of annularity is 5 minutes 46 seconds, the path width is 237 kilometres and the Sun is 61° above the flat horizon formed by the open ...

The Astrological Forecast for June Includes a Solar and Lunar Eclipse and the Summer Solstice 2011

by fjlehnerz
The Astrological Forecast for June Includes a Solar and Lunar Eclipse and the Summer Solstice 2011

Today you will find me rumbling my way through lots of different ideas and subjects in alignment with the Gemini spirit. With the longest day of the year and the shortest night in the Northern hemisphere mid summer is upon us once again marked by the summer solstice.Dancing around bonfires, celebrations of the communion between heaven and earth have been honored by many cultures especially by the pagan, Celtic or druid traditions. Even nowadays it is a special day to celebrate and many people are coming together at sacred spots around the world like Stonehenge and Avebury. Midsummer is thought of as a time of magic when the forces of the light are at their strongest. As you can tell there is a lot going on in the heavens and accordingly in your life. There are always special times in your life when you reach a threshold of consciousness and things just don't work the old way any more. You have to decide if you want to move forward into a new direction or sit down on your path and try to avoid life which never works very well. The only thing we know for sure is that life is impermanent and in constant flux and motion. If we stop growing we start dying, it is as simple as that. With astrology we can see those special times coming and act according to the flow of life. One of those special times of new Beginnings are the Solar and Lunar Eclipses. This month starts off with a Solar Eclipse on June 1 in Gemini and five planets and the South Node are moving on into Gemini. We will be talking about Gemini, lots of Gemini...talking a lot and then some more, going here and there to give you the taste of this versatile, vocal sign.A Solar Eclipse in GeminiWhenever we see an accumulation of planets in one sign, also called stellium, you know to pay good attention to the subject. What has Gemini to offer to you?First of all Gemini is the most mentally oriented air sign ruled by Mercury. With a Solar Eclipse in Gemini a new way of thinking and communicating with each other is emerging in our consciousness. As you can tell tremendous changes in the way we connect have evolved. For example not many people write letters anymore. Why would you if you can email somebody in a heart beat and have a response immediately for free? Now the new trend is sending SMS, Twitter or to write on Facebook because you can do it from you mobile phone while waiting in a doctor's office or riding in the bus. Some Thoughts About the Electronic AgeNowadays everybody seems to be on the phone with some kind of electronic activity. I am curious do you still read books? How much time of your day do you spend on your TV, computer, phone, and other electronic

Q&A: Space Questions from Homeschoolers - Please answer...?

Question by : Space Questions from Homeschoolers - Please answer...?
Hi, I homeschool my boys and we have a few more questions which we hope someone can answer.

1. We have telescopes in space that take pictures of distant galaxies. (The Hubble - is that still working?) Can we see individual planets and stars in these pictures of far away galaxies and can we tell how those galaxies work by looking at these pictures?

2. According to the scientists, there are now only 8 major planets in our galaxy, yet there are several dwarf planets of which Pluto is now one. a.) Should these dwarf planets be included in out planetary studies? (I believe yes) b.) Do all the planets ever line up completely, as in a straight line? (if yes, then I'm sure it's very rare, right, how rare?)

3. Does anyone know when the next solar eclipse is going to be and from where will you be able to see it?

Thank you all in advance for taking the time to answer these for us!

Answer by green_meklar1. Yes, the Hubble Telescope is still working, although it may be retired in the next few years. No telescope has ever taken a picture of a planet in another galaxy. However, telescopes both in space and on the ground have found evidence of planets inside our own galaxy, and I believe the Hubble Telescope at least has actually taken a picture of an extrasolar planet (an extrasolar planet is a planet outside our solar system). Telescopes can also take pictures of galaxies, and with galaxies that are close enough to make out their shape and composition accurately we can make good guesses as to 'how they work' (it was this kind of research that led to the discovery of dark matter).

2. There are eight planets in our SOLAR SYSTEM. There are over 200 known planets in our galaxy, and scientists estimate that there are probably billions more. a) It depends what you mean by 'planetary studies'. There are good reasons for not considering Pluto, Varuna, Quaoar, etc, as planets, but that doesn't mean they are not of scientific value. In fact, a probe called New Horizons is heading towards Pluto right now and will reach it in I think about 2014. b) Presumably this could happen, but it would be extremely rare and may not have happened since the beginning of the Solar System.

3. The next partial solar eclipse will be on September 11, 2007 (sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks), and will be visible from South America and Antarctica. After that there will be two total solar eclipses in 2008, the first one on February 7 and the second one on August 1. The first one will be visible from Antarctica, Australia and New Zealand, and the second one will be visible from Canada, Greenland and areas of eastern Asia. You can read this for more information:
