Question by : Solar Eclipse today, who's going to watch it?
Sadly only the people on Easter Island gets to see it in person, but thank God for whoever invented the internet and video feeds. Now those of us who arn't so fortunate to live in the middle of nowhere can see it in the comfort of our own homes, also without going blind from staring at it first hand.

Solar Eclipse today, who's going to watch it?
Q&A: The time of solar eclipses?
by Grand Canyon NPS
Question by Michel Verheughe: The time of solar eclipses?
Since the declination of the earth on the solar orbit is roughly +/- 23.5 degrees and the moon's declination on its orbit is roughly +/- 5 degrees, one would think that solar eclipses happen around the equinoxes, right? But when I look at this site:
http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse.html
It looks like they are more around the solstices than the equinoxes. I must have my geometry wrong but I don't know why. Do you? Thanks in advance.

Q&A: When will there be the next couple solar eclipses?
Question by : When will there be the next couple solar eclipses?
I love astronomy, and I REALLY want to see a solar eclipse before I die. When will the next couple of solar eclipses be in America? I live in New Jersey and I heard the next one here will be in 2079!
BQ: Can you tell a difference between a total and partial solar eclipse?
Best answer:
Answer by India104the next one is on the 22th of July near the ocean, or in the middle of it! but it can be viewed from Chile,.\ But in America there will be a solar eclipse near the north of Kentucky on August the 21
--the difference between a partial and total eclipse is:
Unfortunately, not every eclipse of the Sun is a total eclipse. Sometimes, the Moon is too small to cover the entire Sun's disk. To understand why, we need to talk about the Moon's orbit around Earth. That orbit is not perfectly round but is oval or elliptical in shape. As the Moon orbits our planet, it's distance varies from about 221,000 to 252,000 miles. This 13% variation in the Moon's distance makes the Moon's apparent size in our sky vary by the same amount. When the Moon is on the near side of its orbit, the Moon appears larger than the Sun. If an eclipse occurs at that time, it will be a total eclipse. However, if an eclipse occurs while the Moon is on the far side of its orbit, the Moon appears smaller than the Sun and can't completely cover it. Looking down from space, we would see that the Moon's umbra shadow is not long enough to reach Earth. Instead, the antumbra shadow reaches Earth.

March is a special month for fans of astronomy. Not only is it the moment of one of the most symbolic events of the year, the equinox of spring, but also the starting point of a new observation season, now that temperatures have raised and it is possible to spend the nights gazing at the stars. To celebrate this return, the association Astrofili Veneziani has organized a series of activities in the planetary of Venezia Lido, which are not to be missed if you are a lover of the skies and very worth discovering if you are curious to enter this fascinating world. The cycle started the first Sunday of this month with the conference "The Orientation of Medieval Churches in Venice and the Veneto Region", held by the archeologist and writer Eva Spinazz
