The total solar eclipse of 1 August 2008 observed from 27000 ft. in a King Air 200 over Taylor Island, Nunavut, Canada. Totality was 1 minute 39 seconds. Video shot by Stephen Bedingfield of the Totality on the Tundra group.

I cant seem to find information on this anywhere. If you look at a video of a solar eclipse with a camera that has no filters or any other special protection, can you go blind.

The solar eclispe in KC was starting at 7:25pm, when the moon touches the edge of the sun. The first of the video I took at 7pm, only shooting a few minutes of it, just to see what my camera could capture. I took a pair of welders glasses, and rubber banded them tightly, then took and slipped the glasses over my HD mino flip camera. Seemed to work pretty well. Notice at the end it picks up the reflection of the eclipse on the roof of that building. Very strange indeed. I too wore me a pair of welders glasses. I filmed as long as I could and lost sight after approximatly 45 minutes, as it moved over the horizon. The whole video is sped up 4 to 8 times. Make sure to watch in HD, and even better make it full screen. Thanks!

Answer by ClintonFThe solar eclipse will only be visible in China, India, Japan , and places around there. The next solar eclipse that will be visible in the United States won't be until August of 2017. I'm sorry, I wanted to see it too!

I used a piece of old film as a filter to catch as much as of the eclipse as I could. It was not around to long here in chicago before the sun started to set.
