Question by 2live Crew: Why People Shouldn't Watch Solar Eclipse with naked eyes?
Why do scientists say people shouldn't watch Eclipse with naked eye?
is it just solar eclipse or also lunar eclipse too.
Best answer:
Answer by RaymondJust solar eclipse.
The problem comes from looking at the Sun. Normally, when we look at the Sun, a reflex causes us to look away, thus avoiding burning spots on the retina (this can cause blind spots in our vision -- this can be nasty because the retina has no pain receptors to warn us that damage is being caused).
However, during an eclipse, people know that there is something interesting going on and they will force their stare to remain focused on the Sun despite the defense reflex. As long as any part of the Sun is visible, the eye gets enough energy to be damaged.
Another nasty aspect of this problem is that sometimes the damage does not appear right away (people notice that their vision is damaged many hours later or even on the next day).

Summary:
The damage is caused by the Sun, not by the eclipse. However, people normally don't stare at the Sun, unless there is an eclipse going on...

How to make a shoe-box viewer to safely view the solar eclipse. I added black duct tape to all the taped edges of the box to block any stray light, and black tape next to the eye-hole to reduce the glare to your eye from the Sun shining on the outside of the white box.
