This is the eclipse as seen from Hao Atoll in the South Pacific. The narrow angle video was obtained using a Canon EOS 550D camera with a Megrez 72 telescope and x2 barlow. This produced a 1920x1080 25p video stream. The widefield video is from a SD Sony Camcorder looking out over the Pacific Ocean towards the Sun. We had some thin cloud. Look out for shadow bands projected onto this cloud at second and third contact.

It is my observation that solar eclipse has no specific pattern but lunar one is only sighted at full-moon night.

Answer by SteveI'm not 100% sure but i would guess it has something to do with earth moon sun alignment. it must need to be aligned just so for an eclipse to happen and the side effect is a full moon.
