Will the US be able to see the 2008 solar eclipse?

Question by wrabble: Will the US be able to see the 2008 solar eclipse?
I live in Chicago.
Still not having a definite answer here, but for all of you saying "Yes, we're on the Earth, aren't we?" Let's take a second to think about this.

Yes, I realize the US is on the earth. So, knowing that, would I REALLY ask you if we could see it if I didn't know there was a possibility that we COULDN'T?

Really now. As if we see the sun for 24 hours a day. Now, intelligible answers only, please.
Seems like we won't. :( Darn.

Best answer:
Answer by paparazzino, we can't see it. It would be nice if we could.

The Solar Eclipse that takes place on August 1, 2008, will be a total eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 1.039 that will be visible from a narrow corridor through northern Canada (Nunavut), northern part of Russia, western Mongolia, and China. It belongs to the so-called midnight Sun eclipses, as it will be visible from regions experiencing Midnight sun
