The Meaning of Eclipse Patterns in Western Astrology

The Meaning of Eclipse Patterns in Western Astrology

In the simplest form, it's all a natural and episodic part of a Solar-Lunar cycle. The first piece of the eclipse puzzle is understanding the greater cycles. The effect of the Sun and Moon on the tides, just as a graphic and easy-to-grasp example, that's a starting place. As the Moon rotates around in its orbit, the effect pulls stronger at certain times, and the net result is higher tides.High tide and low tide demonstrate the gravitational effect of the Moon on large bodies of water. The tides run greater, a larger displacement, when the Moon is full, and when the Moon is new. When I ran night club, I noticed that liquor sales spiked upwards, greater revenue, under a full moon. Then, two, three days afterwards, there was a greater chance of having to call the cops to break up a fight. That's the simplest explanation of the lunar cycles. Extended, then, when the eclipse patterns unfurl?A lunar eclipse is a super full moon, and a solar eclipse is a super new moon. The lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth gets in the way of the full moon, so that, in effect, the Sun, Earth and the Moon are all in straight line. It's also easy to imagine that kind of energy just pulling a person apart, split in too many directions. The solar eclipse occurs when the Moon lines up right between Earth and the Sun. It's like a supercharged New Moon.If the full moon is a time of celebration and harvest, then tracking backwards, the new moon is a time of planting, sowing seeds that can be harvested under that full moon. Sowing and reaping, and this is hardly original material, as it sounds like something the can be dug in an old farmer's almanac. There are extenuating circumstances that go with the eclipse patterns, as the alignments are closer and tighter, the tidal pull stronger, and consequently, the range of emotions are far greater, both positive and negative. Perhaps the increased effect of the Super New Moon or especially, a Super Full Moon, maybe that's part of the source eclipse mythology. The trick with eclipse patterns, how to embrace and harness the energy, the easiest way to grasp what the times are about, start with the symbolism of the new or full moon, then supercharge the emotions surrounding the times. Add an extra level frantic and frenetic to that pace there is a certain amount of apparently irrational behavior.Because the eclipse patterns usually occur -- approximately -- every six months or so, this means the lunar cycles are stronger, giving them the appearance of irrational. Embrace that insanity and run with the ideas. When the eclipses are unfolding, draw up the ideas and plans in pencil. Be willing to bend, change, and rethink directions when the patterns subside.
