Answer by laurahal42Make a pinhole camera. This is easy to do and presents zero risk to your eyes.

Addendum: Photographic neutral density filters do not always attenuate infrared. Consider what you are risking if you get it wrong, and always use something that is known to be safe for solar observation.

Don't be so scared that you miss the show, but do be careful. This is one area of astronomy where you really can hurt yourself.

I would use a better thicker tape and a sharper box cutter! Never look at the Solar Eclipse with just your bare eyes or sunglasses. You can also buy the solar glasses at the camera store or buy the NO. 14 Welders Glasses, I hear those work good too. This is a simple way to view without hurting your eyes if you can't get the glasses. Enjoy!
