First Solar Eclipse Worldwide in 2011
On January 4, people from all over the world had a chance to observe the first partial solar eclipse in 2011. A solar eclipse takes place when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, creating amazing moments for skywatchers. The first partial solar eclipse of this year was first seen on January 4 over Jerusalem where the sun appeared to have taken a large bit out of its upper right section. The phenomenon was also seen after sunrise over most of Europe, northern Africa and the Middle East. It ended at sunset over western Asia including Russia, northwest China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and so on.
The first solar eclipse in 2011 was a partial eclipse of the Sun that was seen after sunrise over most of Europe, northern Africa and the Middle East.
This is the first partial solar eclipse in 2011. It is said that three others partial solar eclipses will occur this year.
