Q&A: SunPower Solar Panels?

by r_neches
Question by blogprojects: SunPower Solar Panels?
Do higher watt solar panels last longer, efficiency-wise?

3 installers gave me quotes with 3 different sunpower panels. The 225, 215, 210 watt panels.

Whats the con and pro's of the different wattages?

Answer by AmyThere is no difference between them besides their rated output. One may physically fit on you roof better than another, or look better, although the physical difference between those sizes is minimal. Go with whichever installer you trust, and is preferably NABCEP certified, or working towards NABCEP certification. Get references. Don't believe just because someone is an electrician they know how to install solar electric, it's a whole different animal. Make sure they are trained in installing solar.

At the solar industry's largest event, Intersolar Europe, 2011 SunPower launched its new 96-cell E20 modules, which are the industry's first commercially-available solar panels to achieve total area efficiencies of 20% and above. Jorn Jugens, SunPower's managing director, Germany had the honour of discussing with PV-Tech the key characteristics of the module, which includes SunPower's 22.4% efficient 'Maxeon' cell technology. The modules will be offered in Europe and Australia this year, with availability extended in North America and Asia in early 2012. All of SunPowers production lines will be transferred to the new Maxeon cell process by mid-next year.
