Question by chipper_adi: Why is a camera obscura useful in observing a solar eclipse?
I'm not quite sure, but is it because our eyes cannot look at the solar eclipse directly but we can look at the projected image of it?
No one really answered my question...
So can you, or can you not look at the projected image of a solar eclipse?

Answer by JayjhisIf you stare at the sun you will literally burn a hole in your retina and have a blind spot for the rest of your life. It's like when you hold a magnifying glass over a bug and toast it to death.
