Question by Joshua M: Business Solar Panels?
How much would a full solar panel system cost for a campus that uses $ 2,000 - $ 3,500 of electricity a month? I just need a ballpark estimate here - Please also put where I can call for more information. The campus is located in Camp Springs, MD - just outside of DC. Its main building's roof is flat, there are two houses, and there is a church building with a really sloped roof. The roofs of the main building and the church building are at least 20 years old. If you need to look at the building go to maps.google.com and click on satellite map, type this address: 5408 Brinkley Road, Camp Springs, MD, 20748-2531

Answer by J.Actually contact your power company (Con Ed?) and see what programs they may have available, If they do have a program avaiable they might be able to provide you with hard numbers and installation assistance.
You might do an RFP from http://www.powerfilmsolar.com They produce a standing seam steel roof system that generates power- this might be an option for roofs that might not enough margin built in for the extra weight of an array of panels.
While difficult to extract from this article: http://www.mspnewsroom.com/page/2/Final-approval-in-place-for-MPLS-CC-solar-array.jsp it is a very large installation, maybe on the order of two times larger if not three times larger than available roofspace on your campus, The article was not written as well as it should have been written, but I assume from that article that installation was fully paid for by grants from their local power utility, in their case to the tune of 2 million dollars. So assuming no roof structure modifications, you should be proportionate to their cost with the roof space you have available.
