Will the moon eclipse the planet Venus within the next 24 hours?

by John Neese
Question by : Will the moon eclipse the planet Venus within the next 24 hours?
Woke up to a beautiful clear morning (6AM CDT, Monday Feb 28) with crescent moon and the planet Venus off to the southeast. I estimate the separation of about 10 degrees. Just guessing from the alignment, I would think sometime in the next 24 hour that the moon will eclipse Venus. I am just going off of a rough estimate, but will this eclipse happen? If so, approximately where would this eclipse take place?
Thank you for the correction of terminology.

Answer by kumorifoxSuch an occurrence is called an occultation, and they are quite common. I can't find anything on this particular alignment, however; maybe the Lunar orbit is just off Venus' position this time round.
