Can you take pictures of Solar Eclipse? The one tonight? will it hurt your camera?
By camera I mean a DSLR

Answer by RemyYour camera isn't an eyeball so there's nothing to scar. The reason you shouldn't look directly at an eclipse is the same reason you shouldn't look directly at the sun. It's bad for your eyes. An eclipse is especially dangerous because the darkness fools your eyes into opening the irises wider and letting more light in when in fact the strength of the light is undiminished.

Will the surroundings be lit up as if it is a full moon day(or twice the brightness of full moon day)? What approximately will be the darkness of the surroundings? The time of maximum eclipse is 1:30PM local time.
In India, we have an annular solar eclipse on jan 2010. From my home town, the sun will be obscured by 82% at 1:30PM local time.

What if I prevent my eyes from getting adapted by closing my eyes from 12:00PM(starting time of the eclipse) till 1:30PM and then I suddenly open my eyes, can I see my surroundings appear very dark, as if it is a full moon day?

Answer by Tina Luse a pinhole camera to observe the eclipse.
you won't notice the brightness changing, bcuz your eyes will adapt. even a total eclipse is only like bright twilight.
watch for funny-looking shadows and the sunlight having a "pearl" quality.
later: you won't notice it getting dark unless the sun is more than 90% covered. no matter what you do.
